Solar Energy Company?s Growth Goes Through the Roof at Start of 2011, Incentives Provide Strong Demand for Renewable Energy Source

OAKLAND, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--If all the hiring activity at Amberjack Solar Energy is any indication, the clean energy labor market could be in for sunnier times in 2011.

Lance Kulick, founder of Amberjack Solar in Oakland, N.J., said that increased consumer awareness of the benefits of energy conservation, and heightened customer demand for solar panel installations, are fueling a big uptick in his firm?s hiring needs in the first quarter of 2011. At press time, Kulick has added nine employees--four sales, service and management personnel and six installers?in just one month.

?Federal and state incentives plus rising energy costs and decreasing budgets are driving the strong interest in solar panels as well as our brisk hiring rate,? said Kulick. ?We have plans to double our installation crew in the first quarter of 2011 and expect to hire and train over 25 installers by year?s end,? he added.

According to the EPA website, the federal Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy?s programs provide funds to local and state governments to implement energy conservation measures and reduce carbon emissions in their communities. In addition, there are 30% tax credits which can be taken as a grant for projects installed in 2011 or for solar energy equipment placed in service before 2016; and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 provides grants for solar and other qualified measures and facilities. New Jersey's Clean Energy Program offers significant financial incentives for commercial, industrial, and governmental customers to integrate energy-efficient and renewable energy technologies into new construction, upgrades, and new cooling & heating equipment installations.

Amberjack Solar Energy specializes in the sale and installation of customized solar photovoltaic (PV) systems for commercial and industrial properties. The company has been contracted by the city of Garfield, N.J. to install solar panels on 12 municipal buildings, and projects that the solar arrays will save the city approximately $250,000 a year on its energy bills. Kulick explained that Amberjack will pay for, own, operate and maintain the Garfield system at significant savings to the city thanks to its access to federal and state funds. The East Orange Water Commission has also contracted with Amberjack to install a system on its administration building.

As part of Amberjack?s commitment to the municipalities where it will be installing solar PV systems, Kulick said he plans to hire and train workers in those communities to perform the system installations.
