General VFD query

Picked up a VFD off ebay... It is a Taiwanese one, build quality is good...

Have it installed but it has a quirky thing that I am not sure is standard on all VFD's..

I am using the old external switches to control it.. They are standard push button types... start and stop... Both are running in NO mode..

Now the stop button works are expected, but the start button only works like a jog button.... It will only run the motor while I have it engaged, once I release it, it stops...
