Staircase Drawers! First home wood project.

I have no idea why you don’t see more of this in houses. One of those damn why didn’t I think of that.

It fits 8 pairs of shoes with room to spare. So now I dont have a trip hazzard when I go to the laundry room.

Made from #1 pine, dado corners, glued, and nailed. Each box is about 20” wide by 23” deep. I really wanted 1 full drawer but there is a center horse so I had to make two boxes. Got 2 sets of 100# dwawer slides from lowes. I angled the slides down from front to back so that the drawer would have a natural tendency to close. Faced the boxes with the same piece of wood from the staircase. 4 Push-Open Mechanisms from lee valley. So you don’t know that there is a drawer there and I didn’t want a pull on it because it would more than likely get kicked off at sonm point. My fiance found this idea on pintrest. She has actually found quite a few good projects on there.
