Left over wood from my wood carving projects have turned into some nice spoons. I use no pattern but carve where the wood takes me. That is a lot of fun!!!
The light coloured wood with red streaks are some remnants from my Rocky mountain juniper. The burgundy stripped are Caragana branches. The lighter browns could be anything from mahogany, lilac, etc. These pieces of wood came from pallet skids, identity of wood unknown. Alas the dark squiggly spoon is some tropical hardwood that was tough to carve. It could be desert ironwood, I’m not sure. It turned out nice but I burned out a couple of carving burrs!
All were finished with a spray-on lacquer.
Happy Thanksgiving to all my American viewers!
