Ghetto Mitre Key Jig

Ghetto Mitre Key Jig

I get REALLY limited shop time so making jigs is not tops on my list. BUT I have been DYING to try to make a project with mitered corners and keys (I am making a paper tray, should be done soon, I’ll post then).

So what you see here is a 2×6 scrap piece that I cut a 90 into and tacked on a stick to run it through the mitre gauge channel on my table saw. I intend to beef the jig up a bit and put some supports on it but I made some trial runs tonight and was tickled with the results considering what little time I have invested. I did use a block for a stop so I can get my keys uniform without measurements.
