Shut the box

I am thinking to make a “Shut the Box” game.

I have a few ideas about how to make the numbers that go on the little tiles, but I’m not liking my ideas much!

First thought was scroll saw, but I don’t know how to find the numbers- and how to design them to scroll, to where the centers wouldn’t fall out. I googled a bunch, but got nowhere. Or would I have to make them all a double layered thing, where I glue the scrolled part to a plain hunk of wood-?

Sounds like a lot of work.

My wife says, use her stamp set. But I am not sure the ink will stay put when I varnish/ Watco them, and the numbers are so little- that idea kinda leaves me flat too.

What do you fellers suggest? Is there a way to maybe purchase these? A better way to imprint on them? Or maybe I should just get out the sharpie and write it out?!?
