Recent reclaimed wood projects:
The first two are “The Wobbly”—yes, it leans to the right…on purpose (for once). Ever skied Killington and walked out of The Wobbly Barn at 4 a.m., looked up the access road and thought “is my condo up there?”...then looked down the access road and thought “is my condo down there?”...then decided that 15* wasn’t really THAT cold and you’d be better off just to sleep in your car? And therein lies the “inspiration.” It’s a (recycled) plywood frame overlaid with genuine south Georgia barnwood—i.e., heart pine—from about 125 years ago. I don’t know if the tin was original to the barn, but it is awfully old too.
The next two are my first wine house. It is made from a pine bookcase that the Goodwill Store was throwing away. And it’s condition really was that bad! But I got enough usable wood out of it to make this. It will hold 14 750ml bottles and two magnums. The colors are garish, almost grotesque. It’s off-center and warped to the point of being downright twisted. But it holds a LOT of booze! So I named it “Amy.” (The pun is apparently more subtle than I intended, since I’ve had to explain it to about 2/3s of the people I’ve mentioned it to!)
The last two pics are peace signs over the same barnwood used for The Wobbly. Kind of passe, but they’re quick and easy to make and people actually buy them!
