Mystery Pallet Wood/Different Design

I’ve had this design idea in my head ever since making the blackjack oak wing box so thought I’d see if it was doable. Dimensions:12×3 1/2×7 1/2”. No glue/pinned box joints.Double Shipwright style hinges. Tray with splined miters. Finished with Deft rattle can semi-gloss lacquer. I have no idea what the wood is. The pallet I got it from said India on the sticker. It looks somewhat like elm to me but is hard and not real heavy.
