A Stanley official sent me these two new photos of the the forthcoming 750-series Sweetheart socket chisels that are due on the market about the end of 2010.
The photos are interesting because they show how these tools are both similar to and different than the Lie-Nielsen versions. On the Stanleys the transition from the socket to the blade has a small step, whereas the entire shaft of the Lie-Nielsens (and a vintage Stanley 750 I own) is a smooth transition between the two parts.
Also interesting is the size of the sides on the Stanleys. On the photo of the chisel alone it looks like the sides diminish to almost nothing at the tip. In the shot showing the chisels in the leather roll, the sides look bigger. We'll see which way this goes when the real tools hit the streets.
