This is a set of 12 little ornaments that I designed to make on the scroll saw. The ornaments measure approximately 3.5” in diameter and are 1/8” thick. I made two sets – one set out of Baltic birch plywood, of which I stained the centers with acrylic paints in shades of red and pink and one set is made of Maple which I used mineral oil followed by spray shellac for the finish.
I bevel cut the center hearts of the ornaments so that they slide back slightly and are framed by the delicate filigree fretwork. The inner italicized lettering is cut with a small scroll saw blade, being careful to allow small pieces to hold on, such as the inside of the “o” and “e”. They were very fun and relaxing to do.
I am going to use these ornaments for my little “All Season Tree” along with white lights and red beaded garland for a pretty and romantic look. I hope you enjoy seeing them. :)
