Although expensive, it sure is nice having the right tools for things like this. This is white oak and walnut cut into 1 inch wide strips and glued together with TB 3. After cutting the strips on the Saw Stop, I ran them through the Jet drum sander to get a smooth edge. After it came out of the clamps I ran it through the new Dewalt planer that you people on here talked me into buying. Then back to the Jet drum sander to smooth it out even further. Then I layed out the outline on the computer and used my Legacy CNC to cut the board out and cut out the handle. Although a bansaw and a jigsaw for this are nice, nothing beats the CNC to make pefectly matching corners. I used a router with a 1/4” roundover bit on all the sqaure parts then sanded all the curves with a sanding mop on the drill press and the flat surfaces with my Festool orbital sander. So far it only has one coat of mineral oil and beeswax on it but I’m going to put a couple of more coats on and then buff it with a buffer wheel on the drill. Not counting time in the clamps and waiting for finish to dry I could probably turn out one of these in an hours work.
