Mosquito's mallet for Boatman53, Mallet Swap 2012

This was my mallet for the mallet swap (found here: http://lumberjocks.com/topics/42130)

Here’s the one I got from SASmith in the swap: http://lumberjocks.com/projects/76394

The head was made from maple, the handle is red oak, the wedges are padauk, as is the stripe down the middle of the handle. I shaped the handle with a spoke shave, and used chisels, and a #71 to cut the grooves in the two inside pieces of the mallet head before gluing it up. Finished with Danish Oil.
