Wasn’t going to build anything for a while but it won’t stop raining. Imagine that, here in the Northwest!
Still have firewood to heat the shop, this late in the year. Love this Mahogany. Had a piece of nice figured Maple left over too, so I’ve been wanting to try different shapes, so here’s another one.
The Mahogany is kind of soft, but beautiful. So I sanded down to 220, twice. I wet between sanding to raise the grain. Then, I applied the boiled linseed oil, so that it would sink in good, then, I burnished it. I use a smooth antler and just rub the heck out of it. Like they do to baseball bats, to make them harder.
This is my lightest cane yet. Very comfortable and looks great.
Just will slip this into my projects. Hope you enjoy….......................
