This build was at the request from a co-worker. She wanted it for her daughter-in-law, whos father played guitar before he passed away. I did alot of research on how actual guitars are built and I borrowed some of the techniques to complete this miniature. The woods used are mahogany for the sound board and the back, african padauk for the body, rosewood for the fret board, binding and bridge, lacewood to trim the fretboard, curly maple for the neck, the rosette is maple, padauk and walnut, and finally the initials are maple. The is held on with a pair of rare earth magnets and 2 index pins to line it all up. The finish is linseed oil and then a paste wax.
It was a fun, yet at times a very frustrating project. In the end though, it was very rewarding as I have learned new techniques that I can apply to future projects.
