Telecaster Guitar, rescued from the woodpile #3

Telecaster Guitar, rescued from the woodpile #3

Telecaster Nashville Deluxe style guitar that just a week ago was firewood. This is my custom version of a Fender Tele, The body is narrower and a little thinner with my own flair to it (they can get heavy and I needed to cut the weight down). No hardware is installed, it is on order and the body at this time only has 2 sealer coats of finish on it. The finish will be dyed with at least 6 coats of Nitro lacquer (haven?t decided color yet). The set-up for the pick-ups and controls will be the same as a Fender Strat with a Humbacker in the bridge. The neck is from a cheap strat that I use for templates and most likely will be replaced at some time in the future, but I will probably stay with a Strat style neck.

Guitar body is 1 ? thick laminated Ash. The core at 1? thick is from a tree that I cut down over 5 yrs ago and had kept the bottom 2? (rest was firewood). Cut that piece into two 2? thk slabs and again sliced that in two to make 2 book-matched guitar blanks. The laminated top and bottoms are 3/8? thick curly Ash from the same tree as my last ?rescued from the wood pile? piece http://lumberjocks.com/projects/47211 . When I delivered the picture frame I rummaged through his wood-pile for a few more of those prized logs. As you can see the curly Ash has some, I think, awesome staining or splating that makes for a unique pattern on the body.
